Genetics

A few days before the 2019 Telethon, let's go back to the SVT conference in which Xavier NISSAN took part in the "1,000 researchers in schools" operation. The research director of I-Stem introduces our students to the basics of genetics but also: genetic diseases, rare diseases, gene therapy, cell therapy, stem cells… and all the recent advances in molecular biology.

Two years ago, two 1st S students presented a TPE (Personal Work Framed) on genetic diseases. This year, as last year, a breakfast was organized to benefit the Telethon.

Second, Mr. NISSAN talks about his job as a research director. He explains the content of his work (research, objectives,): understanding, interpreting, making hypotheses, defining strategies to respond to them. As a laboratory manager, he must also: recruit and supervise, train and help, organize, find funding. Finally, he presents his team and his daily life in the laboratory. He points out that very often he has to travel as part of the Telethon and the Genethon (Institute of Biotherapies).
