March 17, 2020, 12:00 p.m.: all schools closed. Therefore, we have to work differently. The aim is to ensure educational continuity. That is to say: allow the construction of learning, give regular and accurate information to students and their families, maintain contact between teachers and students.
Building apprenticeships
Number 1: Pearltrees
The major tool chosen by our establishment is Pearltrees. For several years now we have been betting on this ENT. Each school year, new students and teachers receive identification and passcode. THE PRCs provide the initiation. This initiative now allows us to ensure this educational continuity as soon as possible. Teachers can drop off classes, collect and correct student work. But also answer their questions.
Pearltrees is already used by many. But for others, it's discovery. Teachers therefore provide a telephone hotline. This allows you to reset passwords and give user advice.
It works well. The assignments are received feedback and feedback from the teachers (see image above). Word document, photos, videos and sounds can be shared. Very convenient for language teachers for example: they can check pronunciation and intonation.
The documentalist teachers were also able to publish two short videos. These remind us of how remote CDRs work via E-sidoc in particular. But also open access resources and links for guidance.
2. Other tools on the margins
Other teachers were able to give instructions or explanations, reassure, send back to Pearltrees via "My class at home". The appointment is given on Pronote, at a specific time. The teacher can share content and write on the whiteboard. Students can also write on the board and ask for the floor to ask a question. If there is a voice problem, the teacher can add subtitles. Students participate fully. They are happy and ask a lot of questions.
Others, at the margins and for high school students, worked on "Office 365" with "Teams" (we'll come back to it) or "ZOOM". Zoom allows you to take part in video conferencing. Teams also allows video conferencing but also screen sharing, real-time corrections, sending document via chat. Students "play the game to the fullest" according to one of their teachers. Teams is a high-performance digital tool.
Regular and accurate information
In addition to these tools it is necessary to be able to communicate. For this, Pronote is the right tool. It provides information on the textbook so that students and parents know instructions and homework. With the instructions of the teacher the student also has a better visibility for the organization of his work: details of the work to be done, schedule of the week, referral to the collection / pearltrees team concerned.
Maintaining contact through video conferencing
We are entering the second week and we already know that this containment will be extended. It is therefore necessary to have tools that allow us to talk to each other and see each other, whether we are young or adult. That's why we chose "Office 365" and its "Teams" tool. This allows dialogue in disciplinary teams, the link between the PRC and its class, communication in coordination and in management council.
