Historical:

Created in 1984 at the joint initiative of a teacher and an industrialist, the National Chemistry Olympiads are organized by chemistry professionals, the Ministry of National Education and Research, the Chemical Society of France and the Union of Physics and Chemistry Teachers.

A true bridge between the world of education and that of industry, this national competition mobilizes each year more than 2,200 candidates who compete in the various academies, in more than 200 preparation centers. Visits to industrial sites, laboratories, conferences, etc. enriched this preparation.

How does it work?

The competition includes:

  • a regional step: the candidates of Terminale scientifique engage in a preparation. They are first sensitized to the industrial world and then pass theoretical and practical tests.
  • a national stage: about thirty candidates are selected to come and take the decisive tests.

The theme for this year 2017 is: "CHEMISTRY AND ENERGY".

The CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD in SAINT-PAUL:

From October, two teachers (Mrs. EPAUD and Mr. BAUCHETET) set up 5 TP within the school, on Wednesday afternoons, in order to prepare the student candidates for the Olympiads.

Then it is at the academic level that everything happens: about sixty students participate in these Olympiads.

In Saint-Paul, six students from Terminale S participated in ECRITS in mid-January. Among them, two were selected for the PRACTICAL TEST on February 15: Marie HENNEQUIN and Pablo ROSSI.

At the end of this practical test Marie (TS2) was admitted to take the ORAL on March 8, 2017. The candidate who came first will go to Paris at the end of March to represent our Academy. He will then find himself with about thirty other high school students and, over two days, will have to pass two tests: a manipulation test and a collaborative test. At the end of these two days, there will be only one winner.

Latest results: Marie H. came5th and Pablo R. 9th out of the 63 candidates of the Academy. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 3 May in a company in DANGE-SAINT-ROMAIN (86).

Congratulations to our champions!
